locks comming to 1.8

so i just recently learned jeb/dinnerbone are putting in new locks for 1.8... will this mean lockette or whatever plugin for locking your chests is gonna go away? just thought it would be interesting to talk about this topic even though 1.7 hasn't been into the kraftzone history yet. let me know in the replies what you guys think..

They've only been releasing a shitty vanillla multiplayer server for over 2years and now they decide to add locks in a future release to help protect players? wow out of touch much mojang.

highly unlikely, and it would implemented in a usual bare minimum crap fashion that it will still need plugin developers to actually make it useful for players & servers.

Ron, 1.8 is not in snapshot stage yet. Jeb confirmed the locks on twitter. And I am sure lockette and other plugins to lock chests are still going to be updated. If not for the fact we can already lock chests in vanilla, they will do it because the community wants those plugins...
